We had some bidness to tend to in McKinney this morning so on the way home the wifey suggested we stop at Rudy's. It was a little early for lunch, but never a little early for Rudy's.
We first had Rudy's in Austin, since then we have eaten in Rudy's in Waco, College Station, Denton, Tyler, Allen, etc. Mitcho likes Rudy's.
At Rudy's you order by the pound. You can order moist (with fat) or lean (without fat). I am a Lean kind of guy. Rudy's has sides but you go there for the BBQ. We have eaten the potato salad and beans and they are ok, but nothing to write home about. Now the BBQ, that is a different story. The BBQ has a light smoked taste, but it isn't overwhelming. Plenty of Rudy's Sauce is a must. We keep a bottle of the sauce at home just in case. They also give you more bread than you care to eat, onions, pickles, etc. Loving the BBQ all the way to a 7.75.
Note: Rudy's tends to only open stores in smaller towns. So Allen may be the closest they get to East Dallas. So remember this and make a lunch stop when you are on the road. Of course nothing wrong with jumping in the car and heading to Allen. The Allen location is in front of a Cabela's. So there might be two reasons to go that way.
