Slim and Shorty's Bar and Grill - Arkadelphia, Ar

The wifey and me had a couple of days of nothing to do and we didn't want to sit in the den and look at each other for several days. She says that it would be an ugly sight, and she is probably right. So we decided to slip over to Lake DeGray Arkansas and spend time with Arkansas rednecks and there is a bunch of them in Arkansas. They actually make me look like almost an upstanding citizen. Almost. Nothing like a couple of days sitting on the shoreline of a beautiful lake, light breeze and rednecks running amuck all around us. Of course the one activity we have to do is eat and as you can figure out, I sure like eating. We also like to listen to music. So I did some research on Google and the only joint in Arkadelphia that came up with music was Slim and Shorty's. Nothing like getting free music with your meal.

So we did the Bolero to Slim and Shorty's for dinner on Friday night. The joint is on the square in downtown Arkadelphia. A small but decent looking joint. We went in and grabbed a table. The decoration is beach oriented. There weren't many tables, but they were almost all full. The waitress came along and took our drink order. You know, Tea, because I am a teetotaler. I know that can almost cost me my redneck card rat there.  After reviewing the menu, I decided that I am going for the Chicken Wraps. My doctor has been on me lately about me losing weight, so I am trying to eat closer to right. Which means I have abandoned the redneck food altogether. However, chicken (yardbird) is a redneck staple, but most of the time it is fried not grilled. The wraps had chicken, lettuce and a dressing. It really needs some more add ins. You know mitcho is big on onion and a few jalapeno's would not hurt anything. The meal also came with chips and salsa. The chips were just chips, but the salsa had a very interesting spicey flavor. You can see all of the black pepper in it, but it had other goodies in it also. This was the best part of the meal.

After awhile  we asked the waitress if there was going to be music. She said "No", we only have music occasionally. So the town of Arkadelphia is music free most of the time. What would a good redneck do if they lived in a town with no music. Of course the town has a large Baptist University, so they may have some input on the businesses in town. I am a good Baptist, but I still like my music.

Overall a pleasant dinner with the wifey.

Wing Stop-Mesquite Louisiana Rub

Me and the wifey decided it was time for some chicken lickin. You know I am the founding member of the 1st Fried Chicken Eatin somewhat Bapitst Mostly non-denominational church. So chickin is important business.Of course I actually call it yardbird. When we went to my grandma's, she would go out into the yard and chase down a chicken, which became lunch. This, yardbird. Any self-repecting redneck's food is dominated by fried chicken. So obviously I need to be eating yardbird regularly. For all of the reasons above the wifey and me did the Chicken dance to Wing Stop.

I originally wasn't thrilled with Wing Stop. Of course I never tried any of the fire in the hole flavors. I am stupid, but not that stupid. So I have always wandered in the middle, I want some flavor, but I want my tongue to work afterward. Recently I tried the Louisiana Rub. This is a very strong coat of Cajun spices. You know I like Cajun spices. So I have found my home, the Louisiana Rub is the bomb.

Tonight I ordered 7 boneless wings with Louisiana Rub. Last time I ordered 8 and my mouth was on fire when I finished. One less was better. This is some good fixins rat here.

We didn't order fries this time, but WS fries are coated with something that has sugar in it and it gives the fries a very good taste.
