Dickey's BBQ - Gus Thomasson in Mesquite

Most Monday evenings we go to Darlin's to help CBoss with his math homework. CBoss is in the 3rd grade and they have stepped up the level of math for 3rd graders. Math is pretty tough on all 3rd graders right now. So the Wifey being a retired 3rd grade teacher is a pretty good tutor to help CBoss with his math. Monday night is math homework night. So we are off to the enchanted land of grands. So while wifey works with CBoss, I play with Lil Darlin' and Big Guy (3 year old twins).

Most of the time we grab the gang and go to CiCi's. When we go to CiCi's, all of the kids eat a lot, which is one of the only places you can count on them eating good. However, the wifey does not like going to CiCi's so there is battle almost every Monday night between CBoss (the pizza king) and the Wifey. Tonight the Wifey won and we decided to do the Cossack dance to Dickey's on our way to Darlin's.

We get the family pack, 1 lb of sliced brisket and 1 lb of sausage. We also get jalapeno beans, tricked out mashed taters and macaroni and cheese. Rolls and BBQ sauce also come with the meal. So we made our purchase then went out onto Hwy 30 to play freeway sit and wait. Finally we got to Darlin's and it was time to pig out.

The sliced brisket is a decent tasting brisket, but not spectacular (Checkout Rudy's and Hutchings BBQ in McKinney for really good brisket). The sausage is better than most BBQ joints sausage (but Hutchins has them beat here to, by the way I like Hutchins BBQ in McKinney). The sauce was a very good taste with some after burn. It's a definite plus. The jalapeno beans of course had a good spicey hot taste, which is always a plus for Mitcho. The mashed taters have all kinds of extras thrown in, so they are better than most. Macaroni and cheese is pretty much Macaroni and cheese, but we have two 3-year olds. The rolls are a plus also.

Overall, givn Dickey's a 7.74.
