The House of Gyros - Mesquite

Dinner time happened again here tonight. Imagine that. So the wifey suggested we go to The House of Gyros. She has some buds that have given good reports. So we did the Kleistos to The House of Gyros. You know you just gotta do it once in a while.

If you are going East from Belt Line on Davis (past Mesquite High School) towards Pioneer, this place is in a non descript building on the right hand side. Go slow or you will miss it.

This is a very old building and they have made some attempt at livening it up. It is not very big. The owner and staff were very friendly. You know us rednecks need all the friends we can get, they might just have bail money.

There was a TV showing some Greek channel with people talking in Greek and all the printed words were in Greek. It was all Greek to me.

Our waiter was a little hard to understand. I believe he said they had sweet, unsweet and Peace Tea. We thought he said Peach Tea. This place does not have a fountain for soda drinks nor do they make tea. All of their drinks either come in a bottle or can. Now you know a redneck is going to drink a large amount of libations. So being limited to a can or bottle just won't cut it.

We ordered a Gyro and fries. The Gyro came in a Pita roll, with some veggies and a sauce. This wasn't bad, but not quite as tasty as Athenos. The fries looked doctored up some, but the just tasted like fries.

The owner gave us a free dessert which you know I like free. The dessert seemed like a donut, but a little harder. It had some powder sugar and a syrup. The syrup seemed watered down. This was ok, but nothing great.

Overall, this was a good meal, but not outstanding. Most likely we will go back when the wifey tells me I am going back.

Giv'em a 6.98.
