Campisi's Mockingbird

As some of you know I have been on the run from the Federale Revenuers the last few months. So there is no safer place than to be with the FAMILY at Campisi's. This is the place you went to in the 50's to 70's to get mobbbbbbed up. If you look at their website, the history page is titiled La Nostra Storia. I am just saying.

The website talks about cousins in New York. I bet they had more than cousins in New York back in the day. I wonder how many times you have to go to be part of the FAMILY.

If you come form Dallas and always lived in Dallas, you owe it to yourself to at least once be a part of long history. Just don't take any police, sheriffs, FBI, ATF, etc.looking friends with you.

So the wifey was a real gamer and agreed to make the run with me. Of course by half way there she was talking about sharing. I hear their pizza's are great, but that will have to be another day, because the wifey isn't eating pizza outside Pizza Gett.

The wifey studies the menu and decides we are going to order the Mob Family Special (Pasta Combo Plate). Knowing I could be hungry at the end, I also ordered Joe's Special Garlic Toast.

We started off with the Garlic Toast. Now let's just stop right here. This is some mighty good fixins. We guess they have soaked the Texas toast in a vat of garlic butter. Man this was some good luvin.

The also brought the house rolls, but pass them up and go for the Garlic Toast. If I am going to eat the house rolls, I am taking my chain saw with me.

In seconds, they brought us house salads. The salad is the normal lettuce, green olives, peppers and house Italian dressing which was very good. Two thumbs up on the salad.

Within probably two minutes of ordering we already has the Garlic Toast and the Pasta Combo. Since we were sharing, they split it into two plates for us. This improves my chances of getting to eat. The Combo was floating is red sauce. I call it red sauce because it was not pasta sauce you expect on spaghetti, lasagna, etc. but it was very tasty. I liked it for a change of pace.

We each got one ravioli. This was noodle stuff filled with cheese. We kinda expected it to have meat in it. Covered in the sauce it was very tasty.

There was only one meatball and it was on the wifey's plate, so I figured I lost out there. But you know she luves me bunges, so she offered to half it with me. You can't get a better wifey. The half meatball was a very good meatball. The spaghetti with the sauce over it was also very good.

The lasagna was very similar to the ravioli, it was noodle and cheese. The cheese was pretty thick and was kind of hard to cut. It had one thin layer of something. If you looked real hard, there may have been a little meat there. Of the whole meal, the lasagna was the least of my favorites. I would say here that it is no where as good as the lasagna I cook, but then I cook world class lasagna that gets raving reviews by anyone that has the pleasure of partaking it.

Overall, this was a very good meal and a great experience of Dallas history. I just feel more FAMILY just being there.
