Recently wifey watched a show about the 15 best hamburgers in Texas small towns on our black and white analog boat anchor TV. This made the wifey hamburger hungry. Boots Burger was in the top 5 and is only a few miles from our ranch. So we saddled up and rode to Rockwall. This is your basic hamburger only out of the west half of their house in the middle of a neighborhood. When I say hamburger only, there is no fries, no tater tots, no onion rings, no cheese curds, no fun. It is all about hamburgers. There is a vending soda machine on-site. No parking. To go only, you can’t eat there, cash only. Under these circumstances the burgers better be good. The show made it sound like an awesome burger worth driving 100 miles for.
When I ordered I was told it would be a 40 minute wait. Turns out it was 50 minutes.
Once we got the burgers we drove to a nearby park to eat the burgers. To be fair it was a decent burger. But I won’t be driving past a Whataburger to go there. The Whataburger is probably a little better burger, bigger and they have all of the condiments to go with it. To me that’s a big deal.
Bottom line it is a decent burger but no better than the major chains.
So if you go there look for me at the Whataburger when you drive by on the way.
